About both services
The general questions.
What does it cost?
A pre-purchase inspection is UGX 200,000. An advanced diagnosis is UGX 120,000. We agree the price on WhatsApp before we set off.
I am buying a car I have not seen, from a bond or an import.
That is the case where a check earns the most. You are buying from a distance. Send the lot number or the seller's details. You are welcome to be there, or we bring the report to you.
How is this different from a mechanic or a friend looking at it?
A friend gives you an opinion you cannot take to the seller. A garage that repairs cars has repairs to sell. You get a written report with photographs and a price range, and we sell nothing.
I am buying far from Kampala. Do you travel?
Sometimes. Send the location and we will say yes or no the same day. If we cannot get there, we will tell you rather than take the booking.
You are new. Why should I trust you?
We are new in Kampala, and there are no reviews yet. Two things you can check instead. We do not repair cars and we sell no parts. So we gain nothing from what we find. And you pay after you read the report, not before.
Is this the government roadworthiness inspection?
No. It is not the government road test and it is not a certificate. It is one independent opinion on one car, written for one buyer. If the law needs a certificate, we will tell you to go and get one.
How do I pay?
After the report. You read it first, then you pay. We do not ask for a deposit.
Do you charge if you cannot check the car?
No. For any reason, you pay nothing. No inspection, no charge, always.
Do you repair cars or sell parts?
No. We do not repair and we sell no parts. So we gain nothing from what we find. The buyer pays, so the buyer is who we answer to.
Where do you work?
Kampala and the surrounding areas. Send the area and we will confirm straight away.
How soon can you come?
Often the same day or the next. The seller has to be there too. So the time must suit both of you.
Can I get both services in one visit?
Sometimes, yes. If a car you are buying also has a fault you want explained, ask. We will price the two together and tell you what the overlap saves.
Can I send the report to the seller?
Yes. Send it to anybody you like. It is written to be shown, not kept secret.
Pre-purchase inspection
Questions about the check.
Which cars do you check?
Petrol, diesel and hybrid. If we are not right for your car, we will say so before you pay.
How long does it take?
Sixty to ninety minutes at the car, depending on what we find.
Can I be there while you check it?
Yes. It is the best part. Watch, ask questions, and see what we see.
What if you find nothing wrong?
Then we say so, plainly. It is a good car. The price stays the same, because the work is the same.
Do you work for the seller?
No. The buyer pays, so the buyer is who we answer to. We take nothing from sellers or dealers. So we have no reason to invent a fault or to hide one.
What if I disagree with what you find?
The report is proof, not an argument. Every finding has a photograph and the readings behind it. So you and the seller look at the same facts.
Do you guarantee the car?
No. Nobody honestly can. What we do promise is care and honesty. We looked properly. We tell you everything we found, even when it hurts the sale. We say plainly what we could not reach.
Advanced diagnosis
Questions about the fault.
My mechanic already tried to fix it and couldn't. Can you still help?
That's exactly what this is for. We check the fault ourselves instead of starting from somebody else's guess.
What if you can't find the cause either?
We tell you that plainly, and we tell you what we ruled out. That's still worth knowing. It stops you paying to rule out the same things twice.
Do you repair it once you've found it?
No. We find the cause. Your mechanic repairs it. Now with a proven cause instead of a guess.
Which faults do you take on?
Warning lights. Faults that come and go. Misfires. Starting and charging faults. Electrical faults. Gearbox complaints. Sensors and control systems. We work on the car's computers and their wiring. If the fault is mechanical, we will say so and point you elsewhere.
How is the price set if the fault is hard to find?
The price is confirmed before we start. If the job needs more than a standard check, we agree it with you first. You are never billed for time you did not agree to.
What is not covered?
A scan does not check the frame, the body, flood history or a rolled-back odometer. It cannot see inside a sealed part. Our reports say this on the page, not in small print.
Still not sure?
Send the car and the problem. We will say which service fits. If neither fits, we will say that too. If we cannot check the car, you pay nothing.
